Service Desk quotes and GST
Quote line items in Graften are entered GST-exclusive — you enter the rate before tax, and GST is calculated on top automatically (Australian GST is 10%).
subtotal (ex GST) = Σ (qty × unit_price) gst_amount = subtotal × 0.10 total (inc GST) = subtotal + gst_amount
This matches how the backend stores and calculates every quote — if you're building against the API directly rather than using the UI, send unit_price as the ex-GST rate; don't pre-calculate GST into it yourself.
Sending a quote for approval
Once a quote is created (status: draft), sending it emails the client's contact a secure approval link — same pattern as Change Control's client approval. The client can approve or decline without a Graften login. This requires the client to have a contact email on file; if they don't, sending will fail with a clear error telling you to add one first.
After approval
An approved quote can be pushed to Xero as a real draft invoice for you to finalise — see the Xero integration guide for setup and how line items map to Xero accounts.
